Hi there,
I am Elroy Dsilva, founder of Triature a Digital Marketing Agency.
I currently am handling the communications for Tribe@Turf an Initiative my the Royal Western India Turf Club.
I’ve included below a Press Release that explains the initiative and would be very interested to hear back from you on how we could possibly collaborate.
Best Regards,
Elroy
Press Release for Organic@Turf
Farmers’ Market commences at the Turf Club, Mahalaxmi
Launch on March 17th, 2011
The Royal Western Indian Turf Club is a public space that has been enjoyed by generations of Mumbaikars, and embodies the rich and diverse spirit of the city, welcoming people from all walks of life to come & enjoy the beautiful outdoors. In an endeavour to play a larger leadership role in preserving and sustaining this space, the RWITC has adopted a cause that requires the support of every progressive Mumbaikar – the preservation of our city’s open spaces.
Basis this objective, the Tribe@Turf Community was born. Its sole purpose is to preserve and promote the environmental sustainability of Mumbai city. With the full support of the RWITC, the physical space of the Mahalakshmi Racecourse has already started to become a meeting point for the Community. The community has also gathered force in the digital & social media space, with its own Facebook fanpage (tribe@turf) & Twitter handle (tribe_turf). A combination of online & on-ground events have already generated a ground swell that is growing daily.
The T@T Community is only 2 months old but within that short period of time it has already launched two unique initiatives: Caring@Turf which has so far raised over Rs 40 lacs for 3 large charities, and Music@Turf which treated the city to a first-of-its-kind music event, when the international 72-piece Symphony Orchestra of India opened its season with a performance on the lawns.
And now one of our most exciting initiatives comes to life under Organic@Turf when the Farmers’ Market debuts on its premises in March. The RWITC has partnered with Kavita Mukhi to create a space for not just farmers who produce organically certified fruits & vegetables, but have also included other practitioners of products & services that sustain the environment & culture of Mumbai City.
The Market will take place on the 17th & 24th (both Thu) of March, and on the 9th & 16th (both Sat) of April, and will run from 3pm-9pm. Additionally there will be entertainment provided at the venue including performances of dance & music. Kids too will have plenty of space to run around and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Vivek Jain, the Chairman of the RWITC says “This initiative comes under our newly created identity Tribe@Turf, which has been promoted to encourage non racing activities to focus on environment, green spaces, culture and music, to name a few, to establish the turf is a fun place to be and further RWITC’s image as an iconic, heritage landmark of our city.
This is the second such innovative initiative after the Symphony on the Lawns, and we hope the Farmers’ Market, which is also a socially responsible Endeavour, is well patronized by our members and citizens of Mumbai.”
Kavita Mukhi, the initiator of the Farmers’ Market adds “What we are about to embark upon has never been done before – ORGANIC produce & a chance to watch the races, listen to music & engage in ORGANIC conversation over ORGANIC snacks under open skies. What a treat for Mumbaites, young & old! Support rural India, your health & the health of mother earth.”
Every Mumbaikar has a responsibility to the city, and in the spirit of this endeavor, each one is invited to join the Tribe@Turf Community and contribute their ideas, thoughts and points of view in helping make this an exciting Community that is the pride of Mumbai and a joy for the entire city to behold! To sign up one must simply “like” the Fan page on Facebook (facebook.com/tribe.turf). Regular updates can be followed on Twitter as well (twitter.com/tribe_turf).
The long-term vision for the future is to create a strong Community that can collectively own and develop a piece of Mumbai in a sustainable manner for our children to inherit, and for us all to enjoy in the years to come!

Respected Jury,
I would like to introduce myself as Arrun Sivasubramanian. I study in Children’s Academy Malad East, Mumbai. I am in 5th Standard. I have shared a little though of mine, below. I believe that my little thought matter most as we need to be listened as we are asked to listen the most.
Thank you.
S. Arrun
My Little Thoughts That Matter Most
Specially my mother asks me, “Arrun, Do you know why god has given two ears and one mouth?” I stare at her waiting to listen to her lecture, which she is always good at. We have to speak less and listen more.
But unfortunately this never applies to parents and teachers. When you are about to explain a mistake you did and how it happened they never have the patience to listen. They interrupt and ask us to stop and they give their GYAN to us.
Two ears and a mouth never applies to them. Uhh!!
Hi I’m Anna Abraham, 15 and I go to Bombay Scottish. I had worked with JI twice, once for an interview and the other time for and Env. Ed. essay.
I would really like to continue but I don’t know whom to contact.
Please help.
Thanks a ton,
Anna
I am really impressed by the little minds here. Keep up the good work. Sometimes we as parents really don’t have the patience to sit and listen to those ticking little minds which are always creative and am really amazed by the constructive way it can develop. Anyway, I will surely make my children go through this site to give them a silent nudge towards inspiration.
PS: Arun, all children are the apples of their parent’s eyes so dear, the GYAN may not mean anything at this stage in your life – but when you grow up to be older that very knowldege is stored in a subconcious mind and it all comes back giving us a direction to every way that lies ahead of us..it’s alright to make a mistake but to repeat it is foolishness. Till then chill little dude!
Hi Jalebi Ink, I am really impressed with this media for young people and also by young people! Its good to see that children and youths are not seen as only passive receipents of benefits and develoments but they are active contributors. As I was going through the categories, how about also including sexual and reproductive health rights alos as part of one of the category? Its also a major issue with young poeple and its the best way where correct information can be shared, concerns answered and stories of change published, keeping in mind the ethical issues and confidentialities.
Thanks,
What a kool place for youngsters? It rocks!
