FILMI CHASHMA
THE FILMI CHASHMA PROJECT
Majid Majidi. Albert Lamorisse. Vittoria De Sica. They are well-known directors from all over the world who have made award winning films for children. However, most people Most of you wouldn’t have heard of them or seen their lovely films. Mumbai-based Comet Media Foundation has begun a movement to change all that with Filmi Chashma, an initiative that would like to introduce children to good cinema. They have been screening some of the best of world cinema at schools across the country. They are also encouraging the youth to work on film projects, making their own films.
The films will be screened at the Filmi Chashma festival to be held in April this year.
Jalebi Ink has tied up with Comet Media Foundation for an exciting build up to Filmi Chashma. Over the next couple of months, our members will review, write about and discuss films that have caught their imagination. Under our My Mohalla project, they will document the history of the film industry in Mumbai — digging out and exploring its footprints in the city. Kids will record film history through reports, maps, photo essays and drawings. (Check out the My Mohalla report — Joseph And All That Jazz, the first in the series).
